BuildView FAQs

Questions about BuildView.

The answers below cover the standard service. Site-specific requirements are confirmed in the project quotation.

Service and project access

What does BuildView provide? +

BuildView provides managed construction imagery, secure project access, image review and export tools, and production tools for progress or completion timelapse videos. Physical installation is assessed and quoted separately.

Who can view a project? +

Access is limited to authorised users. Builder teams, clients and approved viewers can be given access without exposing unrelated projects.

Can one camera show different parts of the project? +

Yes. BuildView retains the complete panoramic image and can also provide focused project views for selected areas of the same site.

Can I download project images? +

Yes. Authorised users can review, filter and select images for export. Privacy blur can be applied where needed before a downloadable image set is prepared.

What can be added to a timelapse? +

BuildView production tools support opening and closing pages, captions, branding and soundtrack, with separate preview and final outputs.

Camera and installation

What camera does BuildView use? +

The standard system uses a professional 8-megapixel panoramic outdoor camera with an approximately 180-degree horizontal view, wide dynamic range and enhanced low-light performance.

Why use a panoramic camera? +

A panoramic view captures more of the site from one stable position and can reduce blind areas. The complete image can also support several focused project views.

Does the camera need power and internet? +

Yes. The installation requires dependable power and either customer-provided fixed broadband delivered by wired Ethernet or BuildView-managed connectivity. The broadband-only plan does not include BuildView Wi-Fi; the managed plan includes local Wi-Fi from the BuildView router.

Is physical installation included in the monthly price? +

No. Camera mounting, cabling, power, access equipment and commissioning are site-specific and quoted separately.

Can the camera move during the project? +

It can, but changing the position interrupts the visual consistency of the timelapse. A move is normally considered only where the original view has become unusable or the project enters a distinct second phase.

Partner pricing and connectivity

What are the builder partner monthly rates? +

Approved partners pay £30 + VAT per month where the customer or site provides fixed broadband by wired Ethernet. This plan does not include BuildView Wi-Fi. The £50 + VAT managed-connectivity plan includes local Wi-Fi from the BuildView router and uses LTE as the primary connection or as backup to suitable site broadband.

What does first-project onboarding cost? +

First-project onboarding is £200 + VAT for a broadband-connected project or £250 + VAT for a managed-connectivity project. This does not include physical installation.

What does a later project cost? +

For an existing customer, a later project with a new kit is £170 + VAT for standard broadband or £220 + VAT with managed mobile connectivity.

Can equipment be held between projects? +

Yes. A hold subscription is available for up to three months at half the normal monthly price: £15 + VAT for broadband or £25 + VAT for managed connectivity.

When does the £80 transfer price apply? +

The £80 + VAT existing-kit transfer and recommissioning price applies where the hold subscription has been maintained. Physical removal and installation at the new site remain separately quoted.

Can LTE be used only as backup? +

Yes. The managed-connectivity plan can use LTE as the primary connection or as backup to suitable site broadband. In either arrangement, the BuildView-managed router provides local Wi-Fi access.

Does the managed plan provide Wi-Fi across the whole site? +

It provides local Wi-Fi access from the BuildView-managed router. Coverage depends on the router position, building layout and construction materials, so it should not be described as a guaranteed whole-site Wi-Fi system.

Homeowner pricing

What does a direct homeowner pay? +

The direct homeowner service is £99 per month including VAT using customer-provided fixed broadband by wired Ethernet, or £119 per month including VAT with managed connectivity. The managed option includes local Wi-Fi from the BuildView router and LTE as primary or backup. Initial setup and physical installation are quoted for the individual site.

Why is homeowner pricing higher? +

BuildView is primarily a trade-led service. Direct pricing includes responsibilities normally handled by a builder partner and is structured so BuildView does not undercut its trade customers.

Completion, retention and security

What happens when the project ends? +

Portal access remains included for 60 days after project completion. Continued access can then be retained for £5 + VAT per month. The customer account itself remains open.

What is BuildView Security? +

BuildView Security adds customer remote live view and local event recording using the same professional camera system. It is available on the managed-connectivity plan.

How much does BuildView Security cost? +

For builder partners, Security is £15 + VAT per month and includes the first camera. Each additional security camera is £10 + VAT per month. Direct homeowner Security starts at £25 per month including VAT.

What local storage is included? +

A 256GB card is standard for BuildView Security. A 512GB upgrade is £25 + VAT per camera. Actual recording duration varies with site activity, bitrate and event-zone settings.

Is BuildView a monitored CCTV service? +

Not by default. Remote live view and recorded playback do not automatically include staffed alarm monitoring or police response. Any monitored service must be expressly specified and agreed.

How is privacy handled? +

Camera positioning and access should minimise unnecessary capture. Images can be reviewed and privacy-blurred before export or publication where faces, vehicle registrations or neighbouring property may be visible.
